Sheffield United’s takeover appears to be gaining some traction in the mainstream news with Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol giving his take tonight.
Solhekol’s update via his Twitter accounts comes hours after the BBC journalist Osasu Obayiuwana claimed that the EFL will not be approving Dozy Mmobuosi’s takeover.
However, Sky’s Solhekol has a slightly different take on things. The Sky reporter hasn’t shut down the bid, nor has he said it’s happening. But he has confirmed that talks have been held with the EFL today.
As noted in the update, Solhekol states how ‘frank discussions’ have been held between Mmobuosi and the EFL today.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
As it stands, the EFL are still wanting certain questions answered.
Nigerian businessman Mmobuosi is believed to be in talks to buy Sheffield United for around £110m. He has already put some money into the club and has ‘preferred bidder’ access right now.
There have been concerns raised along the way to question his credibility. But Mmobuosi himself has also given a series of interviews where he answers a number of questions. The main issue thus far appears to be cashflow, with Mmobuosi yet to be fully open on that aspect.
Sheffield United News View: Sky reporting shows things are in progress at least
It’s always worth taking note of when Sky Sports start getting in on the act with Sheffield United. So far, they’ve been radio silent on the entire matter.
Kaveh Solhekol giving an update now suggests certain sources are passing information along the chain a bit. It’s interesting, too, that Mmobuosi has met with the EFL directly today.
This takeover very much still seems alive. If it wasn’t, then you can only imagine the EFL would have given it the boot already.
Of course, the differing reports are doing nobody any favours inside Bramall Lane.
Still, in what is a dismal international break for most, this at least provides us with some new of note around the Blades.
