Sheffield United are still awaiting news on their takeover from Dozy Mmobuosi but one journalist tonight is claiming things are off.
Osasu Obayiuwana – who has been a frequent commentator on Mmobuosi’s takeover – has taken to Twitter again tonight to suggest the EFL will not be approving the Nigerian’s bid to buy United.
Obayiuwana has been a vocal critic and sceptic of Mmobuosi all along. That’s led to some to question his credibility and sources. However, his account does show a history of working for BBC World Sport, suggesting there is something to his claims.
As yet, there has been nothing from the national or local media on the takeover that brings us any new updates.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
So far, we are led to believe Mmobuosi’s takeover attempt is still being checked by the EFL. The Nigerian is said to be responding promptly to their questions but as yet, no deal has been ratified.
The Blades remain under a transfer embargo. However, work is ongoing to try and lift that and the situation is not dependant on the takeover happening.
United sit second in the Championship. Ahead of the international break, Paul Heckingbottom’s side had a three point lead on Middlesbrough in third, with a game in hand.
Sheffield United News View: Takeover talk is getting frustrating
The tweets from Obayiuwana have been interesting to say the least. Clearly, there is something that doesn’t sit right with him when it comes to Dozy Mmobuosi.
As yet, most media outlets here haven’t used him as any sort of source. But given his constant updates, we believe it’s worth pointing out to supporters.
The takeover saga is distracting from what is an otherwise superb season. 2nd in the table and a trip to Wembley as well, Paul Heckingbottom deserves better than this.
Hopefully, these latest claims are wide of the mark. But as usual, we must sit and wait patiently.
