Sheffield United v Tottenham: Harry Kane set to be among big names in starting XI

The countdown to kick off is on in Sheffield as Tottenham prepare to visit Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United this evening.

Cristian Stellini will bring his Champions League challengers to Sheffield in the hope of advancing into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. With many PL teams now out of the competition, Spurs will see this as a golden chance to put themselves in the mix to win the competition.

Of course, Sheffield United will be tricky opposition. Our very own Blades sit second in the Championship and coming off the back of a win over Watford, will be in high spirits.

Much is being made of who Tottenham will start with in the first XI. And while Spurs are carrying a number of injuries, Stellini could go for the in-form Harry Kane from the get-go against United.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Football.London is reporting that Kane is among the names likely to start tonight. The England skipper scored against Chelsea at the weekend and will be as desperate as anyone to win the FA Cup.

Kane could be joined in the starting XI by the likes of Ivan Perisic and Heung-Min Son. Oliver Skipp – who lauded Kane for his ‘incredible‘ passing this weekend – is among those who could be rested, with FL reporting Pape Matar Sarr could get the nod in midfield instead.

Spurs have a number of key players injured right now. The likes of Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, and Hugo Lloris are all out. Stellini will know any injuries to big players tonight will be on his head.

Sheffield United News View: Kane playing is what we all want to see

Yes, it makes the job harder if Harry Kane is playing. But that’s what these cup ties are all about at the end of the day.

The Bramall Lane crowd will want to see the England skipper in action while the United defence will want to test themselves against the best.

Hopefully, Kane does start for Tottenham. And in fairness, United have kept him at bay before at The Lane as well.

John Egan will be missing, thought. Anel Ahmedhodzic is likely to be the central defender of choice, while Ciaran Clark might also get the nod if fit.
