Sheffield United will have Chris Wilder back in charge by the end of the day and he’s bringing a new face with him this time.

The former boss is set to replace Paul Heckingbottom as manager after the club decided to make the move to sack him this morning.

Since then, speculation has increased that Wilder will be the man to replace Heckingbottom, with Alan Knill and Matt Prestridge to come back as well.

However, according to the Sheffield Star, Wilder is also set to bring former Republic of Ireland assistant manager and regular Sky Sports pundit, Keith Andrews, along with him as well.

Andrews is out of work in football after Stephen Kenny was fired by Ireland. But he looks set for a quick return to football at Bramall Lane under Wilder.

A fresh face was needed

While the change of manager is needed, Wilder will be a familiar face to a lot of this squad and so it was vital someone fresh came along as well.

The addition of Andrews will certainly turn heads and it will be an interesting appointment to go alongside the other coaching staff.

Andrews has always spoke so well on football matters while working for Sky and he’s clearly got something about him having been given a chance with Ireland.

He’ll know a few of the players well, such as John Egan, and in the end, it could be a smart move to bring in a brand new face and voice to the club.

Wilder’s return will be heralded by many. But it was crucial something was a bit different as well and it seems Andrews being part of the set-up will do just that.
