In one of the more bizarre transfer rumours to emerge this month, Sheffield United are now being linked with a move for Galatasaray defender, Sacha Boey.

French full-back Boey, 23, has been doing well for the Turkish giants in recent seasons and has attracted admiring glances from a number of Premier League clubs.

The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United are thought to be keen on signing Boey, who could be available for around the £17m mark.

And now, according to Turkish media, the Blades have also expressed an interest in signing Boey.

Sheffield United linked with Sacha Boey

According to Turkish journalist Kutlu Akpinar, Sheffield United apparently sent a proposal to Galatasaray right at the start of the window to explore if a deal for Boey was possible.

The journalist was speaking on Turkish YouTube channel Eski Acik about all things Galatasaray and within the chat, explained United’s interest in Boey.

As explained and transcribed by the same channel’s X account, United have apparently sent a letter of interest to the Turkish club. However, Galatasaray want £17m for Boey, meaning any deal is unlikely.

Chris Wilder is looking to add to his squad this week and is thought to be close to bringing in new signings.

A deal for Mason Holgate has stalled but Ivo Grbic will apparently sign this week. Ben Godfrey has also been linked, with rumours around an exit for Anel Ahmedhodzic not going away.

No chance

The Blades can send all the letters of interest they want for Sacha Boey but this is a signing we will not be making. And if we do, it’s a minor miracle.

A French under-21 international, Boey is very much one of the leading young full-backs outside of the Premier League and he’d be some coup for United if he came over.

However, with so much interest in him previously, this one seems impossible.

Further, reports from Turkey often come out this time of year and in a lot of instances, we find they go nowhere.

That’s not to discredit this information, of course. However, we’re putting this one in the take with a pinch of salt category for now.
