Sheffield United remain keen on doing a deal for Leicester City goalkeeper Danny Ward, according to reports this evening.
Reports over the weekend had claimed United were now looking at a deal for Welsh international Ward, who is well down the pecking order with Leicester right now.
United are also thought to be looking at Kasper Schmeichel, although there are fears a deal for the Dane could prove too expensive.
However, according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, it is actually Ward who is higher up on Chris Wilder’s wishlist.

Speaking on Sky Sports tonight, Dorsett had an update regarding United’s search for a new number one.
“Sheffield United are interested in exploring a deal with Leicester City for goalkeeper Danny Ward. Sky Sports News has already reported that the Blades are in the market for a goalkeeper this window, with former Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel among those they are interested in,” Dorsett said.
“But Sky Sports News has been told Ward is higher up on new manager Chris Wilder’s list of candidates. He is likely to be cheaper in terms of wages, and is keen on a move which will get him more first-team football – his only appearances this season have been internationally for Wales.”
Whether or not United push the button on a deal for Ward, remains to be seen.
There are a number of factors at play, most of which come down to money. Getting Ward on loan would mean sending Luke Thomas back to Leicester. A permanent deal, meanwhile, is likely to be too expensive.
Further, there are question marks among some fans if Ward is any better than Wes Foderingham. The current United number one has made a number of errors but produced a decent display against Gillingham at the weekend.
As it stands, it feels a waste of a loan to bring in Ward.
