Sheffield United are interested in signing Leicester City goalkeeper Danny Ward this month as they look to bolster the ranks.

Chris Wilder has already moved quickly to sign Ben Brereton-Diaz on loan but is searching for more new faces as he bids to add to the squad.

A new goalkeeper is thought to feature on Wilder’s wanted list. Wes Foderingham has made a number of errors this season and is also yet to sign a new contract.

And according to The Sun, that could turn Sheffield United’s attention towards Foxes stopper Ward.

It’s suggested that a deal for Kasper Schmeichel might be too expensive at this stage and that Ward is an option the Blades are looking at.

Ward is currently third choice at Championship leaders Leicester City. The Foxes are looking to sell, but will reportedly consider a loan with an obligation to buy.

Cardiff are also keen on Ward, should United fail to press on with their bid.

No thank you

Are we being serious, here?

Surely we are not going to waste our domestic loan – if we send Luke Thomas back – on signing Danny Ward.

This is a goalkeeper who has done very little since Leicester paid £12.5m to sign him from Liverpool back in 2018.

The Welsh international was a huge part of why Leicester ended up going down last season and since then he’s been relegated to third choice in the division below.

This one really makes no sense. Yes, we might need a goalkeeper to put pressure on or replace Wes. But Ward is not the answer, as he’s simply no better than what we already have.

This would be a massive surprise and one that really, wouldn’t go down too well with the fans.
