Sheffield United are looking to add a new goalkeeper to their ranks and are now in talks with the experienced Kasper Schmeichel.
Schmeichel has been mentioned in the last few weeks already as a player of interest and it appears United are now progressing talks.
The Danish stopper is currently over in Anderlecht and is open to a move back to England.
Blades boss Chris Wilder is wanting a new stopper after seeing Wes Foderingham make a number of big mistakes in recent weeks.
Sheffield United in talks to sign Kasper Schmeichel
According to TalkSPORT, United are looking to land Schmeichel quickly and had indeed already held talks over doing the deal.
Interestingly, Schmeichel is on a seriously modest wage over in Belgium with Anderlecht.
According to The Sun, the Premier League winning stopper only earns £4,000-a-week. Of course, in terms of Premier League wages, that is very small.

Even for a club like United, that is outstanding value for a player who will contribute to the cause.
United boss Wilder has looked on as Foderingham has made a number of costly errors in recent games, notably against Aston Villa when his rash charge gifted the home side a point.
Foderingham is also yet to sign a new deal, putting his future even more in doubt.
Wilder making big decisions
There are different arguments here when it comes to signing Kasper Schmeichel.
Yes, on one hand he is well into the latter years of his career and is a short-term option. Likewise, it might also encourage Foderingham to look elsewhere and he might not sign a new deal.
On the flipside, though, it is needed. Foderingham hasn’t been good enough at times and while the defence is poor as well, he has made huge errors to effectively throw games for us.
A change is a good thing. Even if it means Foderingham simply ups his game and concentration levels knowing a top stopper is lurking.
Right now, Wes knows he’s the main man and isn’t getting replaced. Bringing the ‘outstanding‘ Schmeichel in changes that feeling.
Chris Wilder promised big calls were going to be made and it very much looks like we are getting them.
