Arsenal are looking like being a nuisance for Sheffield United this summer, with the Gunners said to be keen on both Aaron Ramsdale and Sander Berge.
Mikel Arteta has apparently placed both Blades stars on his list of ‘could signs’. Berge is said to have a £35m release-clause and is one of the options to strengthen their midfield.
United, of course, would prefer to keep both players. But should Arsenal be serious and follow up their interest in Berge and Ramsdale, then the Blades could land some loan stars in return.
Here’s a look at some of the young talent at Arsenal who Jokanovic and United could look to take in return.
The Arsenal players Sheffield United should be enquiring about
If United want themselves a creative midfield player looking to make his impression at first-team level, then Azeez could be the man.
Still just 18, Azeez has already been in and around the Gunners’ first-team.
Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has previously lauded the talent Azeez possesses. He told All Nigeria Soccer previously:
“One player who I think looks really good is Miguel Azeez. Miguel is going to be a great player in the future. He’s really calm and mature so I’m sure he’s got what you need to be a success and have a big career.”
Quite the endorsement, and certainly a player to keep tabs on.
21-year-old defender Ballard is expected to make another loan move next season, but this time into the Championship.
The big Arsenal man helped Blackpool to promotion last season. A move back there, could well be on the cards. However, should a club the size of United make their presence known, we should have enough to tempt Ballard to South Yorkshire.
Strong, quick for his size, and already with 8-caps for Northern Ireland, Ballard is certainly worth a punt for the Blades.
A name who should be known to Sheffield United fans anyway, Balogun was linked with us while Chris Wilder was in charge.
He has since signed a new deal with Arsenal. However, he’s yet to make an impression on the first-team, with many suggesting he could be sent on loan next season.
While United don’t exactly need strikers, it would be hard to pass up on Balogun if he’s available. He’s proven at under-23 level, with 9 in 18 last season.
Balogun also netted twice in the Europa League. At 19, he’s got the world at his feet and, like Azeez, has impressed Aubameyang.
Another young defender, Rekik is keen to make his mark next season. The teenager arrived in North London from Berlin, and recently made his debut for Tunisia.
Rekik is – like Ballard – another defender on the Arsenal books who will be looking for first-team football. He won’t get it with the Gunners you’d think, so a move to the Championship could be ideal.
The Blades have lost Phil Jagielka, while Kean Bryan could also leave. It means adding the likes of Rekik or Ballard could, then, be vital.
