Sheffield United talks to sign versatile £7m player ahead of Everton

Sheffield United look like they’re in for a busy end to the transfer week and Mama Balde is once again being linked.

Balde is among the targets for both United, Burnley and Everton this summer. After scoring 12 goals for Troyes last season, Balde is seen as a player who can help make a difference in the final third for United.

The Blades are believed to be close to signing Cameron Archer from Aston Villa. However, French outlet L’Equipe claims talks are also underway for United to try and sign Balde.

Guinea international Balde found form with Troyes last season despite them being relegated. A teammate of Yasser Larouci, Balde could well fancy the switch to United if a deal can be struck.

L’Equipe claims a deal worth more than six million Euros is being discussed. That falls into line with the initial reports that suggested around £7m could get things done.

Paul Heckingbottom is focussing on improving his forward options in the final days of the window.

As well as Archer, United are also looking at Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United. Further, goalkeeper Dean Henderson is also said to be a target for the Blades.

You can never enough good attacking players, especially in the Premier League. The fact we’ve had to bring on Antwoine Hackford and start Will Osula in recent games shows how short we are in attack.

The signing of Archer seems to be progressing but adding yet more pace and tricks with a player like Balde would help as well.

£7m is nothing in today’s market, even though it’s a decent fee for United to fork out.

Like the other deals we are being linked with, if this one can pushed over the line, then it’s yet more good business for the club.
