Sheffield United are ready to finalise a complex deal to sign Aston Villa’ Cameron Archer this week.
The Blades are looking desperately for a new striker and Archer is a name that has emerged high on their wanted list this summer.
After selling Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge, the Blades have some money to spend before the window closes next week.
And according to Alan Nixon, United will go to £18m to get the deal for Archer done.
Writing on his Patreon, Nixon explains how a complex deal is being sorted between Villa and United to bring Archer to Bramall Lane.

It’s claimed United will pay around £18m for Archer but like a lot of Villa’s latest outgoings, there will be a buy-back clause inserted into the deal. That means Villa will take Archer back for a fee above that £18m should United go down.
In essence, it’s like a complex loan deal on paper. However, should United stay up, then it does seem Archer will be a Blades player regardless.
The intricacies of the deal are yet to come to light but it appears United are ready to press on with this one.
Sheffield United News View: Archer a good signing, despite the complexities
How the deal gets done is best left to the professionals in charge. It matters little to us as fans really.
But in the main, getting Cameron Archer signed up is good news. United need a forward who can impact things in the final third and the youngster has certainly shown he can do that.
Archer should be desperate to prove himself in the Premier League really and in theory, he should prove a great signing for United.
