Sheffield United are trying to get a deal for Cameron Archer done this summer as they look for new strikers.
After losing Iliman Ndiaye, United have still not moved to replace the Senegal star, who moved to Marseille earlier this month.
A number of names are said to be on United’s list to replace Ndiaye, including Archer.
But according to The Mail’s latest transfer confidential letter, Leeds United are now trying to see if they can do a deal for Archer themselves.

The Whites are looking for new players after losing a host of first-teamers this summer and starting the season off in dire form. Daniel Farke knows he needs goals up top and sees Archer as the ideal signing.
Leeds would only look to do a loan for Archer, however, whereas the Blades are trying to do a permanent deal.
Villa are believe to be open to letting Archer go but a deal is complex, with the Premier League side wanting a buy-back clause inserted into any transfer package.
For Paul Heckingbottom, the situation around Archer represents yet more frustration in the market.
Sheffield United News View: Tricky call with Cameron Archer
While there is an obvious need and clamour for United to sign a new striker and someone like Cameron Archer is exciting, there are reasons to hold back as well.
Villa apparently want a £20m fee for a start and that is a massive outlay for a player who has yet to do anything at Premier League level. Indeed, we saw with the signing of Rhian Brewster how going all in on young English talent can sometimes backfire.
On the flipside, United need strikers and the board needs to show some ambition to back Hecky. And if that means splashing out on the ‘deadly‘ Archer, then it might have be done in the end.
