Sheffield United are looking into a deal to bring Dean Henderson back to Bramall Lane from Manchester United this summer.

Henderson is free to leave Old Trafford and was widely expected to join Nottingham Forest. The England stopper starred the last time United were in the Premier League under Chris Wilder.

Manchester World reports that the Blades are exploring a deal which would see Henderson return. United are among three clubs reportedly keen on doing a deal for Henderson.

Henderson has struggled with injuries in the last 12 months. Indeed, that is believed to have put Forest off making their move for him. However, there has been talk that the Blades will look for a top class goalkeeper to either pressure or go ahead of Wes Foderingham.

One big issue for Sheffield United could be Henderson’s £100k-a-week wages.

United are also looking into a deal to sign Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri as well. The Uruguayan is on Paul Heckingbottom’s radar as the window enters its final week.

Hecky may have to choose between Henderson and Pellistri if both were to be loans, with United only allowed one PL loan from any one club.

Sheffield United News View: Only a fit Dean Henderson should return

There are a couple of problems with this deal really. We all know that Henderson is a quality goalkeeper and he’d be a fine signing for United if we got it done.

However, for the loan fee and wages, he must be fit and able to play. Secondly, it would immediately mean we bump Foderingham down the pecking order and that might not go down too well within the squad in general.

But, we are in the big leagues now and getting a top goalkeeper can be crucial. Therefore, if there’s a deal to be done for a fully fit Henderson, then the Blades should certainly look at it.
