Sheffield United have been mentioned as being keen on signing Egyptian forward Mostafa Mohamed to bolster the front line this summer.

The Blades are scouring the world markets looking for value for money, with Paul Heckingbottom set to be given a modest £20m budget to make permanent signings with.

And according to Foot Mercato, Nantes forward Mohamed is one of the names Heckingottom is looking at.

Sheffield United want to sign Mostafa Mohamed

According to the French outlet, United and Ligue 1 side, Lille, are keen on exploring a deal for Mohamed.

It comes after Nantes have only just exercised an option to buy the Egyptian forward for around £5m from Galatasarary.

Mohamed, 25, scored 11 goals across all competitions last season and plays as a cente-forward for club and country.

He has 26 caps for Egypt, netting on seven occasions.

Mohamed is the latest in an ever-growing list of names to be linked with a move to United.

The likes of Habib Diallo have been linked, while more recently, Anis Slimane and Nico Gonzalez have been touted as players of potential interest. The Blades are also keen on bringing back both Tommy Doyle and James McAtee.

Sheff U News View: Blades ramping things up

We’ll be linked with loads of players this summer but it does seem like little snippets of info are being given out to agents and media right now.

United will sign players this summer it’s just a question of who. Mohamed, it seems, is a decent enough striker and one who might be within the price range. Albeit, the decision from Nantes to buy and then sell immediately would seem odd.

We will see though. It certainly feels like things are picking up and as June ticks by, hopefully there’ll be some good news to share for Blades fans.
