Sheffield United are expanding their search for new players and have reportedly made contact with Tunisian midfielder, Anis Slimane.

United’s limited budget this summer means bargain buys, loans, and free transfers are the main targets for Paul Heckingbottom.

And with Slimane’s contract set to expire in 12 months, the midfielder fits the bill when it comes to cost.

The Sheffield Star claims United have made contact with Slimane – although the initial claims do come from Tunisian football outlet Ettachkila.

Sheffield United want to sign Anis Slimane

The Sheffield Star is claiming that Brondby are looking to fetch around £4m for the midfielder.

Slimane, 22, has starred for the Danish giants over a number of seasons, making more than 100 appearances and winning a league title in the process.

The midfielder – who can operate anywhere in the middle of the park – played for Tunisia in the World Cup, including in the memorable 1-0 win over France.

Other clubs are believed to hold an interest in Slimane. The likes of Toulouse and Le Havre in France are credited with being keen, while other PL sides may also join United in wanting to do a deal.

The Blades have yet to sign anyone this summer while the likes of John Fleck, Ben Osborn and Jack Robinson are yet to confirm if they’ve accepted contract offers or not.

This is exactly where Sheffield United need to be looking. Players from competitive leagues who won’t cost the world and are likely to make the step up to the next level.

Slimane is obviously a player who is more than capable. You don’t play in a World Cup and get results in such a tournament without having something about you.

For the Blades, these are the sorts of deals we need to be getting over the line. £4m is nothing in Premier League money and even within a budget of £20m, it’s worth paying.

Hopefully, this one has some legs and we can have some good transfers news quickly.
