Other Premier League clubs have joined Arsenal in showing interest in John Fleck, according to Football Insider.

It was first claimed the Gunners were keen on the Sheffield United midfielder during the January transfer window. Although nothing concrete came of it.

Head coach Mikel Arteta is understood to be a long-term admirer of Fleck. Arteta was particularly impressed with the 28-year-old’s performance against his team in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium last month.

Fleck scored the equaliser to ensure the Blades have taken four points from the North London side this season.

Now others from the top flight are also said to have their eye on the Scotland international. He is now apparently valued at £20m.

Chris Wilder is understandably keen to keep hold of Fleck – who has been in excellent form again this term, scoring five league goals.

Wilder says that it’s his ambition to make the Scot “a lifer” at Bramall Lane. Which is perhaps why the club are in the process of trying to tie Fleck down to a new contract.

His current deal expires in 2021 and the Blades are hopeful he will sign a new one before the summer. They do not want Fleck to enter the last 12 months of his contract, making them more vulnerable to outside interest.

The midfielder himself has also recently spoken of his commitment to United. Fans speculated Fleck could be on his way when his wife posted a cryptic message on Twitter.

Yet when asked if he was leaving, the former Rangers man simply answered: “No chance.” His wife has since clarified her comments as well, saying they were misunderstood.

Fleck’s position in Wilder’s team has not been affected by the club record signing of Sander Berge in January, either. Berge has started both matches since his arrival at Bramall Lane, but it is John Lundstram who has dropped out of the side to make way for him.
