John Egan put in a standout performance for Sheffield United against Watford yesterday but he was quick to praise his teammates as well.
Egan marshalled the defence brilliantly but in the last two games had looked a tad below his best. It was the ideal bounce back from Egan and typical of a player who has rarely let United down.
However, never one to take the limelight, the Irishman was quick to praise striker Oli McBurnie on SUTV.
“We went long to him early on and he was winning every header so why go away from what’s working. You know, he’s a big man, he’s game and he was unbelievable up top. I don’t know if they’ve given him the goal but he celebrated like it was his anyway,” Egan said.

“He dominated their centre-halves and he was brilliant. We know Oli’s a really big player for us and it’s good to see him playing well.”
MORE UNITED STORIES
McBurnie has been a huge player for the Blades this season. He’s scored 11 goals without yesterday’s been given to him and had another ruled out as well.
Sheffield United News View: Oli McBurnie now one of the first names on the team sheet
The change in McBurnie this year has been massive. He’s admitted himself he’s made some changes off the field and it’s pretty obvious he’s reaping the rewards on the pitch for doing that.
McBurnie is now one of the very first names on Paul Heckingbottom’s team sheet when fit. In fact, even when he’s not fully fit, there’s an argument he should still be picked.
Egan’s praise of McBurnie is typical of what his United teammates think of him. McBurnie is clearly a popular lad in the dressing room. But that’s no use if you aren’t producing on the pitch. Thankfully, McBurnie is doing both.
