Jack Robinson praises 'top' Sheffield United star Oli McBurnie after Watford

Sheffield United won out 1-0 in their huge game with Watford, as an Oli McBurnie header found it’s way into the goal at the Kop End.

The big Blades striker managed to get on the end of another set-piece and amid a scramble, the ball seemed to cannon of of Ryan Porteus before creeping over the line.

With Middlesbrough also losing at West Brom, United now go seven points clear of second with a game in hand.

In what was a vital game to bounce back in, United defended well throughout. Jack Robinson was at the heart of that defensive display once again.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

But while defending and keeping a clean sheet was on his mind, Robinson did find time to praise Oli McBurnie for his overall contribution to the United cause.

“Yeah he did (play well). He won everything in the air, held the ball up well. It’s what he’s all about isn’t it. He’s a top player for us and we need to keep him fit now until the end of the season,” Robinson said.

Had McBurnie been credited with the goal it would have been his 12th of the season. But it’s likely to go down as an own-goal. Not that the Scottish international will worry too much about that.

Sheffield United News View: McBurnie continues to shine for the Blades

After being marmite for so long in the eyes of United fans there must now be a large majority who see exactly what McBurnie brings to the cause.

He is a nightmare for defenders and we are a better side when he plays. Alongside Ndiaye, he doesn’t give the opposition defence a minute really.

Today, he got his rewards for getting in the right area. No, he won’t get the goal credited. But he won’t care, and getting the three points is all that matters.

If the Blades can keep McBurnie fit and keep Ndiaye alongside, then promotion is very much on for Sheffield United.
