Paul Heckingbottom has been speaking about one of his new Sheffield United signings with the international break now here.
The United boss has seen his side be in all four opening games of the season but win just one point.
However, there are some big positives and one of those positives is new signing Gustavo Hamer. And speaking to Sky Sports, Heckingbottom has been singing the midfielder’s praises.

“He is tenacious. He is all action. He is brave to get on the ball, he is not scared to risk the ball, he is prepared to make things happen,” Heckingbottom said.
“He will compete, he will tackle, he will run back. People like that are infectious. Indeed, that is the manager’s hope. If you are able to acquire people like that, you are almost sending that message to other people, aren’t you?”
Hamer has enjoyed a good start to life as a Blade, scoring a stunner at Nottingham Forest as well.
Heckingbottom, then, will be hoping more goals follow and with it, points on the board.
Sheffield United News View: A big signing this summer
When United sold Sander Berge, there was a bit of fear that we’d lost a player who was more than capable of playing in the top flight and we’d left ourselves short.
Now, though, it looks like we’ve actually found someone better. Gus Hamer has been excellent so far and looks every bit the quality midfielder we needed. He is everything Hecky describes here and he’s going to be integral.
United have managed to do well in the market this summer but Hamer is the standout really. And now with James McAtee signed and others as well, the midfield area looks very strong indeed.
