Sheffield United look like they’ve got a deal over the line for Manchester City’s James McAtee in time for tomorrow.

United take on Everton at Bramall Lane in a huge game for both clubs. Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom was hoping to have new signings through the door in time to feature and it looks like he might have got his way with McAtee.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, McAtee has now signed his loan deal with United and crucially, he’s done it before the 12pm deadline for registration and will now be able to play against Everton.

Taking to social media, O’Rourke has confirmed that McAtee has put pen to paper and is now expected to be involved when the Blades kick off tomorrow lunchtime.

McAtee could even go straight into the starting XI, given his knowledge of the system and the players at the club already.

McAtee’s arrival takes United’s summer signings into double figures. However, Paul Heckingbottom is still planning more and wants to sign a new striker before 11pm if he can.

Manchester City have allowed a number of young players to leave this summer. They remain keen on McAtee remaining at the club, but Pep Guardiola is once again happy for him to work with Heckingbottom for the coming season.
