Sheffield United have won the race to sign Manchester City midfielder James McAtee in a huge move for Paul Heckingbottom.
The Blades boss has waited patiently all summer to land McAtee and it appears he’s going to get his wish right at the deadline.
According to Football Insider, McAtee has agreed to come back to Sheffield after what’s described as a ‘breakthrough’ in talks between United and City.

The young midfielder was one of the stars of the show last season as United won promotion back to the Premier League. And now it seems he’s going to return for a second crack at the whip.
Paul Heckingbottom will be delighted to get McAtee over the line following a summer-long wait. His goals, assists, and ability to carry the ball will be crucial to the Blades this term.

TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook has also backed up the report from FI, claiming via social media that McAtee is indeed set to join the Blades.
Sheffield United News View: McAtee deal is huge
This is a massive, massive signing for Sheffield United. Attacking players were going to be vital on deadline day and it looks like we might have got our main target.
This will take things to ten signings this summer and it’s turned out to be a decent window in the end.
If we can somehow land one more foreign loan or even a buy, then that would round things off nicely.
