Sheffield United have agreed a deal to sign Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer to replace Sander Berge.

The Blades have moved quickly to try and sign Hamer after Berge left for Burnley this week.

And according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, the Blades have agreed to pay £15m for Hamer, with a medical due to take place today.

Hamer has been earmarked for a move away from Coventry after a stunning season last season nearly got them into the Premier League.

But with Hamer in the last year of his contract, it looks like United have swooped to get the deal done.

The Blades already announced the signing of Vinicius Souza this week and after a nightmare few weeks, the squad seems to be coming along.

Hamer hit double figures in both goals and assists last season. Paul Heckingbottom will be hoping he can go a long way to replacing the numbers lost by Berge and Ndiaye.

Sheffield United News View: A huge lift ahead of Palace

Sheffield United needed some big news this week after Berge left and it looks like we might get it.

Signing a player like Hamer will give the entire ground a lift and he is a player who most Blades fans would have had on their radars at the end of last season.

Hopefully, the medical and the final terms of the deal are sorted easily and this one can be announced and done quickly.

United have until 12pm today to register Hamer to play tomorrow. Paul Heckingbottom is desperately short on numbers but with Hamer and Souza through the door, looks to be building things back up.
