Sheffield United midfielder Gus Hamer got his second goal of the season yesterday as the Blades narrowly lost to Tottenham.

The Blades came within a whisker of taking three points in North London. Richarlison and then Deki Kulusevski both scored to snatch the win for Spurs.

However, speaking after the game, new signing Hamer remained in confident mood and was quick to praise three of his teammates.

And when speaking specifically about his teammates, Hamer says he feels the quality of the likes of McBurnie, Archer and McAtee will help the Blades eventually get those wins.

“You need as many good players as you can get and of course, the quality of McAtee is enormous, really good. Amazing player, amazing talent. The same with Cameron Archer, I played against him last season and I know what he can do. The same with Oli Mac, he’s an amazing striker, he won every header today,” Hamer said.

Hamer has made an electric start to life as a Sheffield United player. With Newcastle up next at Bramall Lane, the Blades know that a win needs to come soon.

Sheffield United News View: Key players will make the difference

While the wins haven’t been there, we’ve seen enough as United fans to suggest we will be competitive this season. And in the main, that will be because of the players mentioned here.

Hamer has looked excellent all season, while Archer and McBurnie already look like they’re going to cause problems for teams.

Add McAtee into that mix and suddenly United do have four players who are capable of producing at the top end of the pitch.

Should the Blades have any chance of staying up, then these four will be key.
