A lot is being made of the situation surrounding Daniel Jebbison and his contract situation at Sheffield United this season.
Jebbison is one of a number of players who are out of contract in the summer. Reports have suggested that Jebbison is a priority in terms of a new deal, along with a select few other first-teamers.
There are fears Jebbison could walk away for free in the summer and Stephen Bettis has even admitted that if no new deal is signed, then the club won’t hesitate to cash in on players if bids come along.

Of course, we’ve yet to see ‘Jebbo’ this season with a mystery injury ruling him out of action. The youngster is now back training in some capacity and he is expected to be pushing to make the squad after the international break.
However, despite Jebbison’s talent and the fact we’ve nurtured him for a few years now, the emergence of Ryan One could well mean the writing is already on the wall here.
Ryan One signing means no room for Daniel Jebbison
It’s quite remarkable really that United find themselves where they are with Jebbison at the moment. Since scoring on his Premier League debut at Everton, he has not quite kicked on as many expected, albeit injuries have played their part.
In that time, Will Osula has emerged and signed a new contract, and United also signed young Scotland striker, Ryan One, in the summer.
Remarkably, One – who is still a teenager – has already featured in the first-team and made his debut.
Those who visit Bramall Lane will tell you that One already looks to have the physical attributes to be a player at this level and it’s no surprise Paul Heckingbottom has made use of him so far.

Naturally, One’s age means he is by no means the finished article. But it does mean that United needn’t worry too much about losing Jebbison either, such is his talent.
Unfortunately for Jebbison, it does look like we might end up selling as it stands. There is no word on a new contract and past interest from the likes of Everton is bound to have caught his eye.
United, though, can rest easy knowing that Ryan One is in the building. The youngster played for the Scotland 19s this weekend and there’s something about him you can’t quite put your finger on that suggest he’s going to go far.
Very much like when United landed Che Adams, it appears we have a gem on our hands. Jebbison, then, could well be the victim of One’s emergence.
