Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is set to continue his squad overhaul and allow Luke Thomas to go back to Leicester City.
Thomas was another one of Paul Heckingbottom’s summer signings. As we know, Wilder has already seen enough of Benie Traore and the striker is set to join Nantes.
Wilder has promised United fans quick decisions this winter and it looks like we are getting that.
And now, according to TeamTalk, Wilder has seen enough of Thomas as well and will try and terminate the loan deal agreed with Leicester in the summer.
Sheffield United to send Luke Thomas back to Leicester City
The report from TeamTalk claims that United will terminate the loan deal for Thomas out of necessity.
Currently, Thomas is occupying the second Premier League loan slot, with James McAtee the Blades’ other loanee.

Thomas was playing regularly under Heckingbottom but since Wilder came in, he’s started just the one game.
It means Wilder will be able to free up space in his squad to sign another Premier League player on loan.
That will be in addition to potential moves for Ben Brereton-Diaz and Kasper Schmeichel.
Wilder makes the right call
The fact of the matter is that we simply don’t need Luke Thomas, especially if we are going to be playing four at the back as we have done under Wilder in the main.
We have plenty of options in there, even with injuries. Max Lowe, Ben Osborn, Yasser Larouci, Andre Brooks, Auston Trusty and Jack Robinson can all fill in down the left if needed in different formations.
Thomas, then, is simply a wasted loan at the moment.
With a bit of luck, this means Wilder will be looking to use the second PL loan on an attacking player.
The Blades are desperate for more help, especially from midfield, so that could well be what’s next for the new United boss.
It’s good to see things moving quickly here. Thomas has tried his best but ultimately, he’s now surplus.
