Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has confirmed yet another injury for the Blades, this time with bad news on defender, Max Lowe.

Lowe has been injured already this season and only came back into the fold recently after Wilder took over.

United have suffered a number of injury problems all season and after Sydie Peck confirmed he’d had surgery, Wilder has now said that Lowe is the latest to be injured.

Chris Wilder confirms Max Lowe injury

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Gillingham this weekend, Wilder got onto the subject of injuries.

And speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield’s Andy Giddings, Wilder has confirmed that former Derby defender Lowe will be out for the month at least.

Lowe was part of a £15m deal that saw both he and Jayden Bogle arrive in the summer of 2020, with Lowe believed to be costing the best part of £5m in that transfer.

His time with United has been inconsistent to say the least.

Lowe helped Nottingham Forest to promotion the season before last but returned to the fold to play a regular part under Paul Heckingbottom last term.

He is among a cluster of left-backs at the club right now. Whether or not this changes Wilder’s plan to send Luke Thomas back to Leicester, remains to be seen.

Yet more bad news for United

You get to the point where you start wondering if there’s a weird curse on the club at this point.

Sheffield United have had such a rotten run with injuries this season that all you can really do is take a step back and smile about it.

For Max Lowe, of course, it’s another bitter blow for him personally. Whether you feel he’s the first-choice left-back or not good enough, it’s still a huge blow for everyone.

Lowe’s time at United has been stop start enough as it is. Another injury will do nobody any favours.

United need all their players fit to navigate a tough January and having a quick defender out is not in our interests. Hopefully, it’s a quick recovery and he’s back among it soon enough.
