Sheffield United have suffered yet another injury blow just days into the new year with news of Sydie Peck going under the knife.
Peck was given his debut by Chris Wilder in the win over Brentford. The former Arsenal talent is highly-regarded at Bramall Lane and is very much seen as a star of the future.

However, Peck will be unable to build on that debut.
The young midfielder has posted on his own social media account on X to confirm he has undergone another operation, this time on his left knee.
Posting from hospital, Peck showed off his huge bandage and wrappings and from looking at the image, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing the 19-year-old any time soon.
Sydie Peck injury just sums up Sheffield United’s season
We are well aware most Premier League teams have had a rotten run of injuries this season but Sheffield United seem to be right up there in terms of volume.
We’ve seen spells on the side-line for key players like Anel Ahmedhodzic, Oli McBurnie, Rhian Brewster and more.
And while Sydie Peck probably wasn’t going to have a huge impact between now and May, it’s still gut-wrenching to see him go under the knife.
Hopefully, this is more of a planned operation with the aim of getting him over something to come back a lot stronger in the future. If so, then that’s good news and we’ll hopefully see more of Peck next season.
But it definitely feels like one thing after the other this season for United.
With the January transfer window now in full swing, it’s a big chance for the club to find their feet again and get building. Injuries, though, do not help the cause.
