Bayern Munich now close to signing reported Sheffield United target

Sheffield United won’t be signing Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey this month, with the full-back apparently close to moving to Bayern Munich.

Boey was named as a surprise target for Sheffield United just last week. Reports from Turkey claimed the Blades had asked about Boey at the start of the window.

However, a deal to sign the young full-back always seemed unlikely and now, it looks like he is off to Bayern Munich.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Boey has already said yes to joining Bayern and it now looks like a matter of time before the clubs thrash out a deal.

Bayern’s move for Boey comes after they missed out on signing Kieran Trippier from Newcastle.

The German giants have already added Eric Dier this window and are now moving for Boey to further strengthen the defensive ranks.

Sheffield United were never signing Sacha Boey

Well well well. What a surprise this is.

Or not.

Sheffield United were never ever in the hunt to sign Sacha Boey and while he might have been a player of interest and on the scouting radar, there was never a chance we signed him.

This is now proven in the fact he’s off to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

We said on this website after reporting the initial interest that this deal was massively unlikely and it’s been proven in a matter of days.

Indeed, it will be interesting to see just how good Boey is when he does sign for Bayern.

If he ends up being a superstar, then it will simply be a case of what might have been for United.

Meanwhile, the Blades have announced the signing of Sam Curtis today. Ivo Grbic is also expected to complete his move in the coming hours, while Ismaila Coulibaly is set to move out on loan.
