There is some good news for Sheffield United as Sander Berge is back in training.
The club’s official Twitter account posted a video of Berge back out on the grass.
The Norway international has not played for the Blades since December after suffering a hamstring injury.
Yet it seems as if Berge will be back for United before the season is over. Although this weekend’s match with Wolverhampton Wanderers will come a little too soon.
“He won’t be available this weekend,” caretaker manager Paul Heckingbottom told Yorkshire Live.
“I’d love to (play him) but medically, he needs to get through this week to see that he can cope with the intensity. We try and train at a good intensity but it’s nowhere near a Premier League game.
“Because of the nature of that injury we need to make sure we tick that box. As much as we’d love him back, he needs to be confident.
“We need to make sure he’s in the right frame of mind to step over that white line with no repercussions.
“Hopefully we’ll get him back sooner rather than later and that will be a boost.”
Fans react to Sander Berge being back in training
Berge is one of the standout players in the Blades squad and has been badly missed the past few months.
The 23-year-old’s time at Bramall Lane also appears to be quickly coming to an end.
The club’s relegation to the Championship is a matter of when, rather than if. And it seems Berge will not be short of suitors this summer.
Therefore, having Berge back for the final few games of the season could be the last time he’s seen in a United shirt.
Which is perhaps why some supporters are a little cynical about the trainign video.
