Sheffield United lost Will Lankshear last summer to Tottenham as the Premier League side splashed £2m on the forward and it seems things are on the up for the youngster.
Lankshear was snapped up by United from Arsenal and displayed a brilliant goal scoring record at youth level for the Blades.
For United, it was disappointing to lose such a highly-rated talent. Bramall Lane has been a hot-bed for developing players in recent years and to see Lankshear move on so early was similar to when the Blades lost Dom Calvert-Lewin to Everton.
However, for Lankshear, it seems the move has worked out. Confirmed by Tottenham today, Lankshear has put pen to paper on a new professional deal that will see him through until 2026 at least.
Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.
The new contract is just reward for Lankshear, who has impressed since signing for Spurs. After scoring twice on his debut for the 18s against Wolves earlier this season, Lankshear also needed just 46 seconds to score in European competition as well.
For Paul Heckingbottom and Jack Lester, there’ll be an element of pride in looking at how well the teenager is doing.
United will, hopefully, have some sort of sell-on clause in the deal we sanctioned. Down the line, then, we could well see some more financial reward.

While there’ll be disappointment in the fact we haven’t got to see Lankshear ourselves, the fact he’s impressing so much with Spurs is testament to how good the Blades are at youth level.
Clearly, this was a player we identified from the off and just a year or so after leaving United, he’s excelling at one of the very best teams in England.
Overall, it’s a nice feather in the cap for United. Lankshear seems very much on course to have a good career. The big question for the Blades now is can we continue to produce and in the main, keep, our very best youngsters, starting with Iliman Ndiaye this summer.
