Tottenham looking justified in spending £2m on Will Lankshear from Sheffield United

There was an element of surprise among Sheffield United fans when young Will Lankshear joined Tottenham for around £2m this summer.

Lankshear was seen as one of the rising stars at Bramall Lane. After being poached by Arsenal, Lankshear’s goal record at United was beginning to catch the eye.

However, Tottenham swooped in the summer and it’s safe to say it’s looking like Spurs have done good business.

After scoring twice off the bench on his under-18s debut against Wolves, Lankshear had already caught the eye of the Spurs fans and coaches. And just now, as Tottenham’s youth side play Sporting Lisbon, Lankshear has made his mark after less than a minute.

RONALDO, BALE AND 5 FAILED PREMIER LEAGUE HOMECOMINGS

Reported by Football.London just now, Lankshear has fired Tottenham into the lead after just 46 seconds. According to FL, he capitalised on a mistake by the Sporting keeper to coolly slot home.

Lankshear appears to be showing no signs of slowing down on the form he showed at Sheffield United. For Spurs, it very much looks like they’ve got a bargain buy on their hands.

Sheff U News View: Let’s Hope We Have A Sell On Clause

Under-18s football is a mile away from the real thing but there is no doubt Will Lankshear looks the real deal.

After firing them in for United, it was a surprise he wasn’t around the first-team towards the back end of last season really. Clearly, Lankshear was never going to turn a move to Tottenham down. And in fairness, £2m isn’t a bad fee for the Blades for an untested player.

However, United fans will hope there is a sell-on clause in this deal. Lankshear just seems to love scoring goals and after making an explosive start in North London, he looks a real prospect.

Tottenham pinched Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker from United for not a lot many years back. And with Will Lankshear, it looks like they’ve done it again.
