Jayden Bogle is the latest player to join the ever-growing list of injuries at Sheffield United.
It’s almost becoming laughable how many fitness problems the Blades have experienced this season.
No one is making excuses, with the club sitting bottom of the Premier League table and 14 points from safety currently.
But few would be able to cope with the sheer volume of injury issues United have suffered in 2020/21.
Manager Chris Wilder laid out just how badly it has hit his side ahead of hosting Liverpool on Sunday.
“There’s been three players available all season who have not had issues, ” Wilder was quoted by Yorkshire Live.
“That’s a huge amount for a team that has the challenges of a second season in the Premier League. I’m sure you understand that affects us severely and harshly.”
Bogle the latest, but who are the three unaffected Sheffield United players?
Having done a little digging, it seems that Wilder might actually be underestimating the injury problem at Bramall Lane.
By our reckoning, Bogle now being out means that only Aaron Ramsdale and Ollie Norwood have not had any fitness issues this term.
Although while David McGoldrick did miss international duty with the Republic of Ireland due to injury, the striker wasn’t out for any Blades games.
So, that makes three.
John Lundstram also missed the loss to Manchester United in December. Yet it was never confirmed it was due to an injury.
It also depends on whether Covid-related absences are included. As Yorkshire Live reports, both Phil Jagielka and Billy Sharp have missed games this campaign because of it. But neither have been injured.
Yet for 20 first team players to have missed fixtures this season because of injuries – plus another two due to Covid-19 – shows just how much Wilder has had to contend with.
