Report: Morgan Gibbs-White open to Wolves exit in boost to Sheffield United

Sheffield United fans would love nothing more than to see Morgan Gibbs-White return next season, and it could be on the cards if all the cards fall into place.

Gibbs-White has been the star of the show for the Blades this season. He was signed by Slavisa Jokanovic, and could yet finish the season with double figures for both goals and assists.

And according to The Athletic, Gibbs-White is open to the idea of moving on from Wolves this summer. It’s claimed that the England under-21 ace has no interest in sitting on the bench once again. He is said to be ‘scarred’ by Wolves recalling him from Swansea and leaving him on the side lines. First-team and regular football is said to be at the top of his agenda.

The Athletic claims that a number of Premier League teams are keeping eyes on Gibbs-White.

Will Gibbs-White Stay At Sheffield United?

The short answer here is only if United manage to win promotion. At that point, it’s a realistic transfer that can be discussed. The report here claims Wolves value Gibbs-White around the £20m mark. Given the Blades paid that for the likes of McBurnie, Brewster and Berge, if we are promoted, it’s a deal we should pursue.

Gibbs-White is among a small cluster of Sheffield United loan players to really take to Bramall Lane. The fans love him for his effort, while his quality can’t be denied either. Goals, assists, moments of magic, he has it all in terms of attacking midfield players.

Of course, anything but promotion and this conversation ends right now. Morgan Gibbs-White will not be playing in the Championship next season.

If anything, this could serve as another incentive for United’s players. The game with Fulham and then subsequent playoff push will be huge. But if the carrot of getting Gibbs-White back is dangling, then it’s an opportunity the club cannot miss.
