Morgan Gibbs-White might not have been at his best today for Sheffield United against Barnsley but he still got himself on the score sheet as he edges towards double figures for the season.
The Wolves loanee has endured a frustrating couple of games by his own high standards. A number of his usually impressive tricks and flicks haven’t come off, while he’s also appeared a bit ‘leggy’ at times.
But, of course, Gibbs-White possesses the quality to win a game and when he went through on goal today, there was no doubt he was going to slot in to seal the game. And Heckingbottom, speaking about ‘MGW’ after the game today, admitted he enjoys working with the Wolves man.
“He was safer today. We’ve spoken a lot with him and one thing Morgan is, is he’s serious about his football. He wants to win, he wants to learn and I enjoy working with him for that reason. He was much more secure in his work today”, Heckingbottom said.

“But you can’t have it both ways. Fans will enjoy the flicks and tricks but the bits they probably didn’t notice today was how secure he was and doing things simple.”
Our View: Gibbs-White Always Needs To Be On With The Game In The Balance
You have to give Barnsley some credit today. They never let United get going properly and made it hard work at times for a sluggish looking Blades side in periods. But in the end, it was two moments of class which won the game.
And it’s for those moments of class that Morgan Gibbs-White stays on whenever the game is tight. When he was played in by McBurnie, you just knew he would score. He was quiet by his standards, but in the end, he won the game.
Ultimately, that is why Gibbs-White is in the team. He might not always have his best day. But when it comes to composure and Premier League class, he has it in abundance.
