US investors appoint 'technical advisor' to oversee Sheffield United takeover push

Sheffield United are in talks with an as yet unnamed US based investment company over a potential takeover of the club.

That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim that talks have been held between Prince Abdullah and a Silicon Valley-based investment group from the USA.

Should United press ahead with talks, it would put an end to the protracted negotiations with Nigerian businessman Dozy Mmobuosi.

Sheffield United in new takeover talks

According to The Telegraph, there has been active talks with this US based investment group. As yet, they wish to keep anonymous and will apparently reveal themselves if the time comes.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

It’s claimed they are scoping out opportunities in the Premier League and United have caught their eye after winning promotion to the top flight.

A number of Premier League sides, such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Bournemouth and more, currently have US investment at the head of the table.

The Blades are desperate for a fresh injection of cash despite promotion. Most of the money gained from going up is to go on simply running the club and paying back past commitments.

Paul Heckingbottom is expecting to have to use the loan and free market as best he can. There will, of course, be some funds made available for a few permanent signings.

Sheffield United News View: Blades fans won’t be getting hopes up just yet

The fact that the takeover with Mmobuosi has rumbled on for nigh on six months now means that most Blades fans will take this with a pinch of salt.

Sure, there’ll be something in it. But we think most United fans will only now celebrate or look forward to fresh cash once there’s an official announcement.

It would be hugely beneficial to see Heckingbottom given fresh funds. It will seriously help the Blades’ cause and allow Hecky to go out and get a few more big signings.

Until that announcement comes, though, we won’t be thinking too much about this. If it happens, great. If not, we’re in exactly the same position as we’d have been anyway.
