Sheffield United are set to appoint Chris Wilder as their manager for a second time in place of the outgoing Paul Heckingbottom.
The Blades board appear to have finally had enough of the results under Heckingbottom and are set to pull the trigger today.
In his place, Wilder is set to return on a deal until the end of the season. His first game in charge will be Liverpool at home this week and he’ll be hoping for some sort of bounce from his players.

The players, meanwhile, will be eager to see if they feature and Sky Sports’ Stephen Warnock has said the dressing room will be split on what’s coming next.
Sky Sports pundit shares what Sheffield United players will be thinking ahead of Wilder return
Speaking on Sky Sports just now, Warnock said those who know Wilder well will be bigging up his return in the changing room.
“I think what you’ve got if Chris Wilder comes back is players who understands how he works, straight away, so that message is very simple to put across. Players will be sat in the changing room now saying ‘what’s he like? What should we expect from him?’. Straight away, there’ll be some players who like him and some who don’t like him, that’s natural in any changing room. But you’ll get more of those who like him putting that message across of what you can expect. From a fans point of view, they also know what style of football is coming, what to expect. It just depends whether he can replicate what he did the firs time around but he’ll back himself going into that changing room,” Warnock said.
Wilder has been out of work since leaving Watford in the summer and will be hoping to recreate some of what he previously had at United.
Billy Sharp could also be in line for a comeback at the club, given Wilder’s close ties with his former skipper.
