There’s a bit of a buzz building around young Sheffield United striker, Will Osula, after the teenager was handed a surprise debut at Blackpool around a week ago.
Osula was one of five young players included on the bench that night and in the final minutes, got the nod ahead of Daniel Jebbison to enter the fray. Of course, his debut amounted to little than a brilliant experience, but it’s made fans sit up and take notice of another talented Blades under-23 star.
And for Osula, the positive feeling continues to roll. Yesterday, in what was a comprehensive 5-1 win against Colchester United, Osula fired in an impressive four goals to keep his momentum going. The teenager slotted in two well-taken penalties, capitalised on some slack defending for one, and then powered his way through for another in an all-round impressive display.
Interestingly, Osula did the business in front of a watching Paul Heckingbottom. The Blades boss was in attendance to see his old charges win out, and will have been more than impressed with what he saw from Osula.
Our View: Will Osula Is One To Watch At Bramall Lane
Much like Daniel Jebbison, Osula seems to have developed physically a bit more than some of the other 23s players.
That’s just to the naked eye, of course. But he seems well filled out already and his goal yesterday where he showed pace, power and strength to blitz the Colchester defence was a sign of his qualities.
It will be very interesting to see where Osula fits come the summer months. In all likelihood, we will see him move out on loan somewhere for valuable experience. But with the likes of McGoldrick and Sharp out of contract, Lys Mousset set to leave, and Oli McBurnie not exactly firing them in, there could be an opening for young Osula.
Certainly, along with Jebbison, he is one to keep an eye on at The Lane.
