Sheffield United are set to part ways with manager Paul Heckingbottom if the Blades lose once again at Arsenal this weekend.
United are now nine games into the season without a win after another defeat against Manchester United left them still firmly at the foot of the table on Saturday night.
And according to Football Insider, the Blades board are ready to move on from Heckingbottom, with Chris Wilder waiting in the wings.
Sheffield United expected to sack Paul Heckingbottom
According to Football Insider, the United board are set to make a decision on Heckingbottom’s future this weekend. It’s firmly expected the Blades will lose to Arsenal and from there, the board are expected to sack Heckingbottom.
Waiting in the wings is former manager Chris Wilder. The former boss left on bad terms with Prince Abdullah and the previous board but is believed to now be on good terms.
A return for Wilder would come with mixed feelings for United fans. Some still believe he was wrongly got rid of before, while others will argue his last record in the PL and with clubs since has been pretty poor.

Sheffield United News View: Potential backwards step but not much else available
We’re not too sure a return for Wilder is the way forward, in all honesty. He left on a bad note, with poor football and even worse results and has since done poorly in other roles.
However, if we are going to sack Heckingbottom, then the options out there to replace him are minimal really.
Wilder’s being successful on his return would rely a lot on the new manager bounce and the sort of start he’d get off too.
If he comes in and results stay the same, then we’re pretty much left in the same position as before.
It feels like a big call this. But ultimately, Heckingbottom cannot keep losing games and will be fully aware most managers would have gone by now given the run.
