Sheffield United fans are well aware a number of players could leave this summer and one star looks to have taken steps to get that process moving.

Chris Wilder has already spoken of the upcoming summer rebuild that’s going to take place.

The Blades are set to be relegated but having paid off debts and balanced the books, it looks like – from afar anyway – the club is well placed to make a good go of things next season.

Of course, while players will be coming in, there’ll be some who depart.

A number of players are out of contract at Bramall Lane, while others will see their loan stints at the club come to an end.

However, United could also sell a few players to further help the balance sheet.

And one player, Anel Ahmedhodzic, appears to have taken the first steps in preparing to move on.

Anel Ahmedhodzic makes move to set up potential Sheffield United exit

The Blades defender has long been considered one of the more saleable assets at the club.

A £4m signing from Malmo, the Bosnian international has had an impressive spell with the club ever since signing.

Like many others, he has found this season more of a struggle. However, there is interest in him from abroad and according to Swedish outlet Fotboll Skanelen, Ahmedhodzic has made a move off the field to potentially set up a move away from Sheffield.

The report claims that Ahmedhodzic has moved agents and joined the world-renowned CAA Base.

The popular agency has a number of world stars on its books, including the likes of Tottenham duo Heung-Min Son and James Maddison.

A number of clubs are reported to hold an interest in Ahmedhodzic.

Napoli are known admirers of the the defender while he is known to have lofty ambitions which might not include another season in the Championship.

Chris Wilder will be keen for any players who move on to do so quickly over the summer.

The Blades boss won’t want a repeat of what Paul Heckingbottom endured last summer, when both Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge were sold on the eve of the new season.
