Sheffield United and Luton are expected to battle it out to try and sign Danish goalkeeper Mads Kikkenborg during the January window.
The Blades have a bit of a hole in the goalkeeping department at the moment. Adam Davies is the back up to Wes Foderingham but hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory when given the chance. Meanwhile, young Jordan Amissah remains untested.
And according to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Sheffield United and Luton are keen on signing Lyngby BK goalkeeper Kikkenborg.

It’s reported that Kikkenborg is wanted by both United and Luton and that a bidding war for his services could come in January.
Further, Tipsbladet pundit Jesper Christiansen has said that should the opportunity arise, then Kikkenborg will no doubt jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League.
“If he gets the opportunity to come to a Championship or Premier League club, I would jump on the next plane. The chance to get into these clubs does not hang on the trees. “I think he’s a good fit in England. In the past, they had to have big and strong goalkeepers, and that has changed over the years, so they have to get better with their feet. But I still think they have a weakness for big strong goalkeepers, and that’s Mads. I hadn’t considered it for a second. He has the potential for something really big. Especially in the spring in Lyngby’s struggle for survival, he was a big part of. He is getting better and better and is a very important part of Lyngby’s team.”
Sheffield United need a new goalkeeper
Wes Foderingham has done well since he came in and he has taken his chance at the club to establish himself as the number one.
However, there is little to no pressure on Foderingham and that is a bit of a problem. Davies will likely be offloaded in January if there are any takers and young Amissah could probably do with a loan spell.
Of course, little is known of Kikkenborg and we won’t pretend we are experts on him either.
But United do need to add to the goalkeeping department and this could be an opportunity to bring in someone on the cheap who could potentially thrive.
