It looks like Sheffield United might get their wish and Sander Berge will remain a key player until at least the summer.
According to the latest news from Sky Sports this afternoon, Fulham and Newcastle have now ‘stepped back’ from negotiations over Berge. It was believed the Cottagers were close to agreeing a £20m deal for Berge.
However, the player himself is thought to have told United he wants to remain at the club for now. He is keen to help the Blades to promotion and if he has a choice, he’ll remain at Bramall Lane.
News of the Premier League duo coming out of the race for Berge will delight United fans.

There had been a danger both Berge and Iliman Ndiaye would be sold on deadline day. But with just eight hours to go in the day, it seems – for now – that is looking unlikely.
Sheffield United have not signed anyone this window. They lost Reda Khadra after terminating his loan spell. However, Paul Heckingbottom has insisted his priority is to keep the squad.
As it stands, he’s looking like getting his wish.
