Report: Sheffield United ready to sell Oli Burke for bargain fee

Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic is looking to sell Oli Burke this summer, in either a bargain deal, or by sanctioning a loan spell.

Burke has struggled to make any sort of impact since arriving at the club as part of a swap-deal which saw Callum Robinson go to West Brom. He scored just the single Premier League goal – away at Manchester United – and was left out completely against Huddersfield yesterday.

And now The Sun have claimed that Burke is among the players who Jokanovic is looking to offload in the coming week. It’s claimed that Burke will be offered to clubs at a bargain price, while United will also sanction a loan move if the right one comes along.

Frustrating

Burke has garnered a reputation among United fans as being one of the most frustrating players to play for the club. He’s built like a proper athlete and possesses frightening pace. Sadly, that’s about where his attributes end.

Time after time he runs down blind alleys and despite that pace, he simply doesn’t seem to know how to use it. To say the Bramall Lane faithful get annoyed with Burke, is an understatement.

Our View: Sell Burke ASAP

This has to go down as one of the worst decisions United have ever made in the transfer market. Why Chris Wilder thought allowing Callum Robinson (a player proven in the Championship) to be swapped for Burke and a few quid was a good idea, is unknown.

But we are where we are. And Burke simply must be moved on. If we can get a fee for him, then great. If it needs to be a loan, then so be it.

Sadly, Burke is simply not good enough for this level. United fans can all see it and it’s just never going to work out for him.
