Sheffield United are being linked with a move for Dutch striker, Richairo Zivkovic.
The 23-year-old forward is currently plying his trade over in China with Changchun Yatai. However, he previously played in Europe, enjoying spells with the likes of Utrecht, Willem II, and Oostende.
Zivkovic came through the ranks as a young player with Dutch giants, Ajax. But after impressing on loan at the Twente and Willem, he completed a permanent move to Oostende in Belgium.
He impressed, scoring 12 goals before making the jump to the Chinese Super League back in February of last year.
But according to respected journalist, Alan Nixon, Zivkovic is now on the radar of Sheffield United, who lead a host of clubs interested in landing the striker.
It’s been a busy window so far for Chris Wilder. He’s already brought in Jack Rodwell and Jack Robinson, while the club are being continually linked with a move for Sander Berge.
Why might Zivkovic prove a good signing for the Blades
The Blades have been looking to add to their squad throughout January and it appears efforts have really ramped up of late.
Furthermore, Callum Robinson could be set to depart the club. West Brom have reportedly agreed a deal to take Robinson to the Hawthorns.
However, it is thought Chris Wilder will only allow Robinson out if a replacement is brought in. That, then, is where the signing of Zivkovic could well come into play.
The striker has excellent pedigree given he came through the famous Ajax youth system. Goals have flowed over in China, too, with Zivkovic netting 21 times in all competitions last season.
He’s represented Holland all the way up to under-21 level. Indeed, as a youngster, he scored an impressive 18 goals in 25 appearances for Jong Ajax.
The Blades, it seems, are determined to make an impact in the window in the coming days.
