Sheffield United are reportedly ready to “enter the dance” to sign Emmanuel Dennis from Club Brugge.

That’s according to Belgian publication Walfoot, who add that Atalanta are ready to meet the striker’s asking price of between £13.5m and £18m.

United have been linked with Dennis on and off for the best part of 12 months. The 22-year-old impressed in 2019/20 with nine goals in 33 appearances.

A move to Italy is not yet a done deal, with Dennis apparently having concerns about their Covid-19 rates. The Serie A club are based in the city of Bergamo in the Lombardy region – which was badly hit by the pandemic.

That leaves the Blades with a glimmer of hope that they could win the race to sign Dennis. This is despite not being able to offer Champions League football next season.

Atalanta will be in the competition in 2020/21, having also reached the quarter-finals this term.

Meanwhile, Brugge view QPR’s Bright Osayi-Samuel as the ideal replacement for Dennis.

Who else are Sheffield United interested in as well as Dennis?

Another forward said to have caught the eye of United is Darwin Nunez. The Uruguay international scored 16 goals in Spain’s Segunda Division last season to fire Almeria into the playoffs.

They have since lost to Girona in the semi-finals. Therefore, with them unable to offer top flight football, the Sun reports his club are now resigned to losing Nunez this summer.

However, there is plenty of interest in the 21-year-old from the Premier League. Brighton and Hove Albion were already known to be keen, hoping that Nunez can ease the scoring burden on Neal Maupay.

Now Southampton have also entered the race and have apparently made a £10m bid for the South American.

The Blades are certainly in the market for attacking recruits, but whether they can land either Dennis or Nunez remains to be seen.
