It seems a while back now that Ronaldo Vieira was the name on Sheffield United fans’ lips, but it appears the Sampdoria man might be set for a return to England anyway with Leeds United.
The Blades were apparently close to signing Vieira in the summer. At the time, Slavisa Jokanovic had identified the former England under-21 star as the ideal midfield addition. However, a move fell through thanks to medical issues, and Vieira has remained in Italy.

Four months on, and it doesn’t look like the Blades maintain any sort of interest in Vieira. However, according to Club Doria 46, his former club, Leeds, are now keen on bringing him back. The Whites are having a nightmare with injuries this term, and Vieira’s availability and familiarity with Elland Road could make this an easy deal.
Of course, Leeds fans will be keen to see if Vieira has indeed overcome his injury problems.
Sheffield United Don’t Need Vieira Anymore
There was a time a few months back when you’d have said this Blades squad needed fresh impetus in midfielder. But what a difference a change in manager has made.
MORE UNITED STORIES
United now have Ollie Norwood back in form, while John Fleck is back from his scare a few weeks back. Conor Hourihane has also started to play well, while Ben Osborn and Regan Slater remain on the books, not to mention Chris Basham, who can play in the middle of the park.
Given Vieira was a Jokanovic target, it seems highly unlikely the club still want the 23-year-old. And in fairness, why would we? He failed a medical, isn’t playing for Sampdoria, and at the moment, is no better than what we have.
Of course, for the player himself, it would be great to get back playing. But Leeds should be wary of signing Ronaldo Vieira again. In a way, it almost smacks of desperation from Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
