Reaction to 'dinosaur' comments on talkSPORT about Sheffield United boss

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has been accused of “dinosaur management” on talkSPORT.

This is after his response to Dean Henderson’s costly mistake during the 1-0 Premier League defeat to Liverpool.

Henderson allowed a Georginio Wijnaldum shot through his legs for the Reds’ winning goal at Bramall Lane.

After the match, Wilder told Match Of The Day the goalkeeper has got to “do a bit better” and “concentrate a bit more.” He added that he would not be consoling Henderson after his high profile error.

Natalie Sawyer disagreed with Wilder’s approach on her mid-morning talkSPORT show.

“I question, is that really the right thing to do? Henderson will know that mistake has cost his team. Wouldn’t it have been better to put his arm around Henderson and in public, back the player?” she said.

“Wilder has previously come out and been critical of those who have criticised his players. He says they all deserve 100 per cent support. That doesn’t show 100 per cent support to me.

“In my eyes that is old school management. It’s a dinosaur management. You have to move with the times.”

Many Blades supporters have responded to Sawyer on social media and most strongly disagree with her opinion on Wilder.

After guiding United to two promotions in three years and a strong start to their first Premier League season in 12 years, this should perhaps come as little surprise.
