Sheffield United gave a debut to new signing Filip Uremovic last night, and the Croatian did well against QPR before coming off with a bout of cramp late on.

Uremovic was signed by United a few weeks back. The Blades have taken advantage of the FIFA rules relating to players playing in Russia and Ukraine to land the right-sided international. Uremovic was on the bench last night but was handed a start against QPR to bring balance to the back three

On the whole, he put in a steady enough performance. He defended well and looked comfortable in possession. Yes, he didn’t quite offer the forward thrust that Chris Basham brings, but in terms of doing his job, he was sound.

And in a photo released on the official Sheffield United channels earlier today, Uremovic certainly seems to be all about winning in red and white. Pictured behind Oli Norwood after the midfielder had scored, Uremovic can be seen screaming intensely as he wheels away to help Norwood celebrate.

It was a minor thing for Uremovic to do. But it shows he has fully bought into things in his short time at the club already and, quite clearly, he loves it when the ball hits the back of the net. United fans are all for this sort of passion and it will do him no harm in endearing himself to the Blades faithful.

Our View: Uremovic Among A Number Of Excellent Sheffield United Performances

QPR were probably lucky to only lose 1-0 here. They huffed and puffed and kept the ball nicely at the back at times. But on the whole, United were dominant and will have been disappointed not to score a second.

Uremovic was key to the performance. He was solid in that right centre-back role and seemed to enjoy playing alongside John Egan. Likewise, Fleck and Norwood were brilliant in midfield, while Gibbs-White and Oli McBurnie also enjoyed good performances again.

At the end of the day, if United can win 1-0 at home another four times, then the playoffs will likely beckon. And at the end of the day, that is all that matters.
