Sheffield United drew 2-2 with Everton today at Bramall Lane to finally get that first Premier League point on the board.

Goals from Cameron Archer and an own goal from Jordan Pickford helped United to a point in the Saturday afternoon sun.

In the end, a draw was a fair result, even though Oli McBurnie very nearly won it late on with a header.

And speaking after the game, McBurnie was quick to praise one United teammate in particular.

And speaking to the press after the game today, Oli McBurnie admitted it was a ‘joy’ to play with Hamer.

“I thought Gus was unbelievable today in midfield. That’s the first time I’ve played with him and he was a joy to play with,” McBurnie said.

Hamer has, of course, already scored his first goal for United with a thunderbolt at Nottingham Forest.

He came close to adding to that today, as Jordan Pickford saved his low effort in the first half.

The signing of Hamer has been a huge one for Sheffield United. He has instantly looked the part and right now, looks to be a far better midfield option than Sander Berge.

As McBurnie says, Hamer was a joy to watch at times today and there is no doubt he’s going to be huge for United this term.

McBurnie, too, was excellent and he can have a big season. The big striker looked every bit the Premier League number nine the Blades need. With Hamer and Archer playing behind and alongside him, there could be some exciting games for United fans this term.
