Cameron Archer has this morning completed his move to Sheffield United from Aston Villa, penning a four-year deal.

The young forward has signed for a significant fee and there is a belief that the deal includes a buy-back clause for Villa to have Archer back at the end of the season. However, that remains unclear for now, with neither club commenting in their official statements.

Nevertheless, Archer is a Blade. And by becoming a Blade, he has taken on the famous number ten shirt vacated by a certain Billy Sharp. The 10 was initially going to be Iliman Ndiaye’s but he left for Marseille.

Of course, Sharp scored on his LA Galaxy debut last night and taking to X this morning, the former skipper has sent a note of encouragement to Archer after the announcement.

Archer is unavailable to face Manchester City today but is likely to be introduced to the fans before the game.

Archer joins Gus Hamer, Vini Souza and Auston Trusty as being big-money signings for United this summer.

Sheffield United News View: Archer could be the difference for United

Hopefully, Cameron Archer gets a free run at things here and unlike Rhian Brewster, can hit the ground running and stay clear of injury.

If he does, then he might just be the difference between United having a miserable season and staying up.

Archer showed at Middlesbrough how good he can be and if he can bring that form to Bramall Lane, then there’s every reason for fans to be excited.

The Champions are in town today and will likely put United to the sword. But after that, Archer and United can start to get to work on putting some points on the board.
