Sheffield United were reportedly keeping an eye on two Manchester United players ahead of the summer transfer window closing.

The Blades have eyes on Facundo Pellistri as an attacking option while reports have also suggested Dean Henderson was back in the frame for a move to Bramall Lane.

However, when it comes to Henderson, it looks like that’s a deal that definitely won’t be happening.

According to The Sun, Henderson is going to complete a move to Crystal Palace this weekend which they claim will spark a merry-go-round of goalkeeper moves in the market.

Henderson will go to Palace as the number one, dislodging Sam Johnstone, who could sign for Wolves.

Whether or not Sheffield United will be involved in this remains to be seen. At the moment, a goalkeeper is not a priority for Paul Heckingbottom, who has seen Wes Foderingham do well in the opening two games.

The Blades boss is hoping to get a deal for Cameron Archer over the line early next week. Other players, such as James McAtee and Mama Balde, remain on his radar.

Sheffied United News View: Dean Henderson was never coming back

Quite where the report came from that Henderson was all of a sudden under discussion at Bramall Lane will never be known. However, it was always obvious it was never going to happen.

Sure, Henderson would have been a nice to have and he’d have improved the goalkeeping situation.

But he is on huge money, which United cannot pay, and Palace and others can. It’s that simple.

The Blades will just move on from this link now. Whether or not we go back in for Pellistri, though, remains to be seen.
